Watersports are at the very heart of the Nonsuch
Bay Resort and its sailing facilities are first class. Avocet Sailing is equipped with dinghies, catamarans and keelboats and offers professional sailing instruction for all ages and abilities. Guests can enjoy exploring the bay by kayak or paddle board or can arrange some kitesurfing.
Uninhabited Green Island with its superb beaches is just a short boat ride away. It makes a great base for snorkelling around its shores and over the adjoining coral reef. A club launch can whisk you over there or you can take a cruising dinghy or catamaran.
Sailing: The conditions at Nonsuch Bay are outstanding for small boat sailing. The two square miles of enclosed waters are protected from the open sea by a barrier reef and the bay faces the consistent and warm trade winds.
Richard Chadburn runs Avocet Sailing with an experienced team. With invaluable sailing and hospitality experience; Richard is a world champion dinghy sailor and a professional superyacht skipper, and he was formerly the manager at Antigua Yacht Club and a sailing instructor at European beach resorts.
Avocet’s fleet of sailboats is built around the modern range from LDC Racing Sailboats supplemented by Hobie Cat beach catamarans. In addition to a range of dinghies, there are 24ft RS Elite keelboats. These modern classics offer the stability and security of a yacht, striking America’s Cup style lines and fast and responsive sailing for crews of up to four adults.
Avocet’s sailing programme is part of the Inclusive Package at Nonsuch Bay offering a “white glove” sailing service, group tuition, refresher courses, technique clinics and trips and activities for all ages and abilities. Additionally we are happy to organise private sailing instruction or kitesurfing courses.
Outside the resort the range of available activities includes a choice of golf courses, game fishing, scuba diving, yacht charters, island tours by land and sea, marine safaris and - for the more adventurous - zipwiring through the tropical forests and helicopter tours, including over the island of Montserrat and its awe-inspiring volcano.
Antigua also has many opportunities for exploration and relaxation. English Harbour is home to historic Nelson’s Dockyard, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and bars. The capital, St John’s, has a wide range of fashion boutiques, markets and duty-free shopping.
