Grenada is also known as the “Island of Spice” because it is one of the world’s largest exporters of nutmeg and mace. Grenada is known for its mountainous beauty and some of the friendliest people in the West Indies. There is an abundance of natural beauty to explore: waterfalls, the rain forest, volcanic crater lake, tiny villages, cocoa, nutmeg, banana plantations, sugar cane fields, rum distilleries, scenic hiking, coral reefs with colourful tropical fish and lovely beaches. And be sure to explore Market Square in the capital of St. George, where early on a Saturday morning you can find fragrant local spices, exotic fruits and roasted cashew nuts and hand woven straw hats and bags.
Average temperatures range from 24C / 75F to 30C / 87F, cooled by the steady trade winds. The driest season is between January and May but even during the rainy season, June to December, it rarely will rain more than an hour at a time and generally not every day.
The island features more than 45 beaches, all of which are public, that offer opportunities for adventure, snorkelling or just relaxing and soaking up the sun.
